Pattaya is a Thai city on the east coast of the Gulf of Thailand, famous for its beaches. Back in the 1960s, it was a quiet fishing village and now attracts thousands of tourists with resort hotels, high-rise apartment buildings, shopping malls, live entertainment bars and 24-hour clubs. Not far from the city on a hillside is the Phra Yai temple with a golden statue of Buddha 18 meters high. Pattaya has several golf courses with a unique landscape offering wonderful views of the bay.
