At the dawn of the twentieth century, Florida had close to two dozen health spas at salubrious mineral springs across the state. Victorian resorts were constructed around small, out-of-the-way springs so that northerners could take the waters on their winter tours of the Sunshine State. What can we learn from the history of these places and the individuals who developed them? Can they offer answers to preserving our springs today? Join us for this presentation packed with archival imagery from Florida’s Golden Age of Bathing to learn what lessons from the past can teach us today.
